Exploring Brooklyn and Jersey

So I just returned home from a weekend in New Jersey and New York City visiting my uncle and old roommate and bestest friend, Ciara.  I had a great weekend and it was great to catch up and see them!

Friday afternoon my uncle and I took a drive along the Jersey side of the Hudson River, right underneath the George Washington Bridge that crosses to the city. It was so cool! image-7 Then we drove down to a park that had beautiful view of the city where my uncle took this picture of me.

We picked up Ciara and went to dinner in Hoboken, NJ.  Saturday I met Ciara and Mike at Grand Central and we went down to Brooklyn to check out the flea market.  It was a gorgeous day and none of us had ventured down to Brooklyn before – turns out its a hot spot on Saturdays!image-5image-6

After some delicious food  – an amazing grilled cheese with caramelized onions and freshly squeezed lemonade, and an ice cream sandwich! – we headed back to Manhattan to Times Square.  After getting some tickets for a comedy show that night, we headed up to the roof-top patio at the Hyatt on the 54th floor.  The views were amazing and it was sunny; a perfect place to put our feet up for a while. photo-9 image-10

The drinks were fantastic but came at a hefty price, so we went down to an Irish pub and had dinner and more drinks before heading to the comedy club. The show was really funny!

Sunday the three of us met my uncle in Nyack, NJ for brunch and it turned out to be their Spring Street Fair as well.  It was insanely busy; there were probably 200 venders in the streets!  I headed home to Kingston later that afternoon.  It was a great weekend!

À la prochaine, bises.
