A couple weeks ago the kids got a week long vacation from school for Fall Term Break. Man do I wish we had that back in Canada – six weeks into school and you get a week off! And what better way to spend it than going to London! The family graciously invited me along for their holidays and I wasn’t about to turn down an opportunity like that – so I packed my bags!
The first thing I noticed when we landed in London was the English! For the first time in about 6 months, I didn’t have to think extra hard about where I was going, I was able to go on auto-pilot mode. This really was a vacation!
We did lots of great things while in London, checked out many of the typical tourist sights and did lots of shopping. We kicked off the trip with a hop-on, hop-off double decker bus tour. We saw Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, went on the London Eye, toured Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and saw many other sights!
I also met up with my good friend Julia and she came with me to nerd out at King’s Cross station to get my photo taken at Platform 9 3/4 ! For all Harry Potter fans, this is a must! It was incredible and made me extremely happy.
I also wanted to check out some amazing bookstores while I was in London. They were amazing mostly because I haven’t been able to find a book store with a good selection of English books since I moved here. I ended up getting 8 books while I was in London, and have finished reading them all 🙂 (good thing I stopped by a used book store recently to stock up my TBR pile! )
London was fantastic!! I grew closer with the family, explored the city and nerded out at Platform 9 3/4. What else can a girl want?
